The Olofström Municipality is a rural municipality where the car accounts for a large part of all transports. Car traffic accounts for a large share of the municipality’s carbon dioxide emissions, and thus there is a great potential for reducing emissions through measures to reduce car driving, mainly on short distances. As a Low Carbon Logistics pilot project, the municipal property company Olofströmshus launches a pool for bicycles in the Ekerydsplan residential area. The aim of the project is to reduce the number of short journeys by car and replace it with a bicycle. The bicycles can be booked online and are available to the company’s customer hosts in their daily work. Even tenants in Olofströmshus properties can book the bikes for e.g. short trips to the store.
